I, like many others in this class, am still unsure of what I want to do for my zine. I am confident that it will begin to come together as I gather more visuals, as that is how my creative process usually goes. Typically, my creative process goes a bit like this: I will think of a concept, and then I start working on the vision and/or visuals, and as I work, my ideas grow and morph! During the first brainstorming session for this project, I went ahead and wrote a bunch of concepts that I would enjoy making a zine about. The ideas that are standing out to me the most so far are: relationships (i.e. life/death, lovers, light/dark, strangers). In the case of using this as my concept, I would make two illustrations for each of those types of relationships. Another concept that I am heavily considering is "A Guide to Fearing Death Less." My mother is a hospice chaplain, and I have always had very open conversations about death in my home. It is a fascinating, scary, beautiful part of life that is inevitable to us all, and i think it would make for a powerful project. Making a zine with the concept "my body is a vessel" is also on my radar, as I think self-love and taking care of yourself is (obviously) important. I also am considering making my zine based off a poem, and it would possibly my own poetry. Overall, I have really enjoyed playing around with some ideas for this project so far. I know that it will come together the more time I spend on it, but I am leaning towards those ideas the most so far.
