Visual literacy is an incredibly powerful ability in this generation. Being able to understand, contextualize, and utilize digital tools can help one succeed in many different ways. Some examples include, but are not limited to: a graphic designer, a coder, a banker, a kid doing their homework online, an editor, a person working from home, etc. The list truly goes on, as we are, after all, in the age of technology. As stated in the article titled Re-Viewing Visual Literacy in the “Bain d’ Images” Era, written by author Maria D. Avgerinou, "The need to re-view and re-conceptualize VL (Visual Literacy) within the 21st century’s digital landscape, complementary mindset, and skills has become more than critical" (Avgerinou 31). As our technological abilities continue to evolve and change (which is happening every day by they way), it is in one's favor to be able to keep up with the changing tides. For example, the ability to use AI (or Artificial Intelligence) is a crucial skill for many areas of work in our current world. Everyone is using artificial intelligence these day, and it can make many different processes faster and more efficient. In an attempt to showcase the sheer power of Artificial Intelligence in regards to creating art, the two images I have attached in this blog were created using the Shuttershock AI Generator. All I wrote was: Cartoon frog in a cabin, and it created these images for me within twenty seconds. AI can be a fun tool in any artist's toolbox, however I believe we must keep the magic of human-made art alive.
